II. Project Overview
In 2022, Mad Hopper Brewing partnered with Tiantai to design and manufacture a 1000L brewery equipment tailored to their production needs. The project goal was clear — a reliable, efficient system capable of producing fresh wort for their home-brewing customers while maintaining flexibility for recipe development and expansion.
After several rounds of discussion and design optimization, the final configuration included:
1️⃣ Malt Milling System – featuring a malt crusher, conveying system, and integrated control.
2️⃣ Brewhouse System – a 1000L two-vessel brewhouse with a 2000L hot liquor tank, all steam heated.
3️⃣ Fermentation System – 2000L fermenters for scaling up production and ensuring fermentation consistency.
4️⃣ Electric Control System – central control with intelligent temperature regulation and safety features.
5️⃣ CIP System – a compact 100L two-tank cleaning system for fast and easy sanitation.
Each piece of equipment was built with precision, polished to a mirror finish, and fully tested before shipment to Australia. The system was designed for both efficiency and long-term durability — a key priority for Mad Hopper’s continuous production.
III. Engineering and Design Highlights
The beer brewing equipment adopted a modular layout, which makes installation and future expansion more convenient. The steam heating design ensures precise temperature control during mashing and boiling, while maintaining energy efficiency — a crucial factor in Australia’s brewing industry where sustainability and energy costs are always considered.
Moreover, Tiantai’s engineering team worked closely with Mad Hopper Brewing to customize the control logic and user interface. This allowed the brewers to monitor temperatures, pump operation, and flow direction easily, all through a single control cabinet.
IV. The Result
Since installation, the 1000L brewery equipment has been performing exceptionally well, helping Mad Hopper Brewing increase efficiency and consistency in wort production. Their team can now produce larger volumes of fresh wort with the same craft-level precision they started with.
More importantly, this brewery system became the foundation for their “bigger brewing dream” — expanding beyond home brewing kits and inspiring more people to discover the joy of craft beer creation.
